HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Why does it seem that no one has used the forward-mounted BMW-style brake booster? V8 BMWs have the booster up by the DS headlight with a long rod from the pedal. There seems to be plenty of room up towards the headlight area, so why not?

I thought about that, studied a bunch of pictures and even mocked-up a bracket. But I wasn't able to get the factory vacuum booster to fit up there anywhere. Maybe a different booster with a smaller outside diamter would work. I also read about vauge pedal feel due to the rod and pivot required. I agree it's an interesting idea.

If it weren't for my truck alternator sitting there, the C5 booster and MC would fit perfectly.

There are boosters of all sizes that could be made to work...not like you need to bolt it to the firewall anymore :p

Hell, an early 924 brake booster is about the size of a pancake, there should be plenty of room along the driver side frame rail if you delete the pop-up headlights. There's even two tapped holes in the rail you could bolt a booster bracket to :p

Knock it out and post pics. The C5 booster already has the C5 MC attached to it.....

Went to the boneyard but didn't take any measurements - shouldn't need to, it really is just a long rod between the pedal action and the brake booster. Don't even need to use the BMW part - you could fab something up easily enough. There should be plenty of room up front in the headlight bucket area for those that have deleted the pop-up lights.
