HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I was gonna say either Allison V1710 or Rolls Royce Merlin.

Yeah that's a V1710 factory supercharged. Not mine, but guy who bought my LS1 928. I have an order in for another 1gz V12. It would need a tall hood scoop for the 944, but I will drop it in an SC3/400.

Staring an Ls Swap
Hey xschop, I'm curious about your swap kit. Are they still available? You seem to have quite a bit of experience with the 944 swap. My swap is an 88 944 n/a for street use. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Texas Performance Concepts has all the swap parts you need. Kent is very helpful with the installs as well.

Re: XSchop 1-off V8 install kit -Updated
Can't say enough about Texas Performance Concepts. I made the mistake of buying a Renegade kit and have slowly upgraded to several TPC parts over the past 2 years for my LS3 powered 86' 951.
xschop: I need to upgrade my axles. Are you still making upgraded ones? Or will i have to resort to the "cringe" $600ea LR ones..

I'm interested in the axle shafts as well. I have an early car, but I will send you the OEM axle shaft for correct measurements.

Contact Texas Performance Concepts for the parts, their link is at the top of the home page.
I just bought some for a 928, butt I don't know what all parts are available.

thats a decent option . XSchop had really decent prices on some custom parts hence the question. rather not spend 5k$ in parts if I dont have to

I believe he turned production of the kit pieces over to TPC when he was no longer tinkering with a 928, but I am not certain of the details.

seems like it. as I go thru threads on this website I see more and more dead and unfinished threads from 10 yrs ago. sad as I love to wrench but I like a guide and prepped parts. 2300$ for a set of headers is a bit much . and I always support the small shops if I can. guess ill have to mix up the r/h and tpc parts to get were I need to be

Honestly, unless you are trying to make big power, you don't need the expensive long tube headers. TPC has shorty manifolds that work great and are reasonably priced. As far as r/h parts, good luck. They stock nothing for the 944 swap now. It all has to be made to order and very expensive from them. Kent at TPC has the majority of what he sells in a kit in stock. TPC is a one man operation. Doesn't get much smaller than that.

Re: XSchop 1-off V8 install kit -Updated
I agree Texas performance is the way to go coupled with the folks on here. The kit they sell is a starting point. Their tubular manifolds are good too. I purchased a set when they first came out and they are good to go. I would love a set of long tube but I have not desired to purchase them at the cost especially since the tubular manifolds are pretty awesome. Don't get discouraged, it's definitely worth it in the end.
