For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

swapping from 86 turbo to S2

Post  cfgioja on Sun Feb 12, 2012 1:55 pm

Off topic of the current corvette trans swap going on on the other thread, I have been talking with some porsche guys here in arkansas and came to a conclusion that it might be best to swap from the 8y6 turbo stubs , axles and flanges to the newer style S2 like our 924 member has done.

Looking into the parts list, will my trailing arm work with the S2 stubs or will I need to swapp the complete assembly over from my 8686 turbo to the S2 setup?

Any ideas or is it going to be best to grab a complete trailing arm from the S2 and swap what I can and have the rest if needed?

To update I called up the guys here in little rock and discussed this some more. They are pretty sure from dealing with their two race cars, an 86 and S2 , that the out er stub axles and axles themselves will swap with out issue. The trans flanges are what they are not too sure about. He will let me know what all is on their late model donor and get back with me.

So I guess I need to know if I need to change my trans flange axle or if the 86out flange will bolt up to an S2 style cc joint.

From the parts list, from 85.5 to the end of the 944 line, it shows the same axle with CV joints part number for manual transmission cars.
