For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I have been driving my LT1 powered 924s for a few days now and have noticed that there is a noticeable vibration when you get above 2500 rpm. Is this normal for the lt1? I assumed that the higher the rpms the smoother the engine should run but this does not seem to be the case for me. My motor mounts are the generic GM rubber sandwich type and mounted to tubular engine supports.

Did you get the pressure plate and flywheel balanced together? How is it running?

The pressure plate and flywheel were a matched set for a 305 camaro. The motor seems to run fine but does not like the MAF plugged in. I suppose it might be dirty.

I was under the assumption that the LT1 was externally balanced in the rear requiring the flywheel to bring it into balance. Therefore a flywheel pressure plate assy that had a neutral balance would actually cause vibration.

The LT1 flywheel should have a balance weight on it. Unless you are using an after market crank that is internally balanced front and back.

They need to to match the old balance of the lt1 flywheel / pressure plate. You take the old flywheel to a machine shop and have them match the same weight to the new set up.

I was happy to find that the problem was loose motor mounts. Not really loose, but not tight enough. The bolts were tightened but there was still a gap between the end of the pipe the bolt goes through in the top of the tubular upright and the ears of the motor mount. I cranked the bolts tighter to squeeze the ears tight against the tubular upright and the harsh vibration went away.
