HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

GTO ECM... will it work? Empty GTO ECM... will it work?

I have an 04 GTO ECM and harness that came with my motor, I checked on LT1swap and there doesn't seem to be any info on this harness. Can anyone tell me what mods will need to be done?

I have that ECU on my car, it was somewhat of a pain to deal with. Eric(the admin) dealt with it alot more than I did, but I remember thinking I should have just purchased an Fbody harness/pcm.

If anyone has some documentation on how to make this work I would really appreciate it... rather not have to buy another harness and ECM if I don't have to.

My motor, harness and PCM are out of a 2004 GTO. The only issues are one of the fans, high speed I think, and the A/C request are controlled by the BCM that is not used on the conversion. The fan pin can be assigned to pin 42 on the blue connector. The A/C request I never could get a clear answer on if it could be programmed in. I went without it and wired the A/C independent of the PCM.

You can use the F-body PCM with the GTO harness but you will have to re-wire the 02 sensors to ground as the GTO O2 sensors ground through the PCM. You would have to buy new/used Red and blue plastic covers for the connectors as the GTO plastic connector covers won't fit the F-body PCM, they are a different shape. They are only a couple of dollars each.

I have been down that road before, now I have a F-body PCM already programmed for this conversion for sale. I didn't want to rewire the O2 sensors as the harness was finished.

Did you wire the harness yourself or send it off to someone? What are the advantages to using a F-body PCM? Sorry if these are really basic questions.. I have been reading all the old threads on this site but can't seem to find a starting point. Maybe the info was in the manual which is now unavailable? scratch

Go to LS1tech.com and search for threads by Pocket on modifying your own wire harness. It is pretty simple, but time consuming.
The GTO computer is superior to the F-body. The only advantage to the F-body is the A/C request controlled through the PCM. The Porsche system can control the compressor with a one wire hookup, but the engine won't idle up.
The manual wasn't any help with the wiring. Any of the info you need is here. Use the google search for better results.

Did some more research. Looks like there is still no solution for the A/C... I will probably just hold off and deal with the a/c later on anyway, when I have everything else working. So far I deleted a bunch of wires for evap, rear 02s, neutral safety switch, throttle relaxer, etc etc. Still have to run the wires for power to injectors and coil packs, then start planning my aux fuse panel. Alldata is pretty much a necessity for this one.

Here is what I did on the fuse box. Some of the wire colors for the GTO are different from the other harnesses.

As far as A/C, one option is to use the factory Porsche system. It is a one wire hookup to the compressor and two wires to the fans. Then the GTO PCM controls the fans off of the Porsche relay and the Porsche HVAC unit will control the AC and fans like the original car did. Here is a link on the fan wiring. That thread has Xschops diagram on how to make a fuse/relay box which is the easiest way to go about it.
