HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

maf vs speed density?

Post  aixgelo78 on Tue Dec 06, 2011 2:12 pm

So, when talking with ssp when I was ordering my harness and ecu I was advised to do a speed density tune. On a second conversation I was advised to try to use the maf as much as possible.

Granted this conversation was over a year ago, but still. A little annoyed.

Any thoughts from the collective?

Chris

I'm running MAF OL (Open Loop, EfiLive) and the car runs very well, I tune the car my self. I considered SD but haven't seen the need to go that route, since I'm tuning the car my self, I'm taking it slowly.

Take a look sat this article, it sums up both options pretty well.

This line from that article sums it up.....
"In a perfect world, virtually all street-performance engines would use Mass Air, due to its superior accuracy and greater tolerance for engine changes"

Why don't you want to run the MAF?

It's not that. I feel like ssp talked me into speed density, hence my harness not having alocation for a maf, no wire and no plug. I am now trying to contact them to acquire the necessities. It's just a pita to re-run the wire and make it look pretty.

I insisted on running a MAF. It allows the ECU to make finer changes in parameters to make sure optimal performance, plus I live up at altitude and within an hours drive have an altitude change of almost a mile. Without the MAF up here, cars run kooky.

Well its done. I ordered the maf harness. I'm just kicking myself that I let him talk me out of it. Now I just need a "5" wire maf. The one I have is from a vette which is 3 wire IIRC.

You can pick up 5 wire MAFs quite cheap on Ebay, many GM cars and truck use the same MAF, paid $45.00 for mine.
