The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Issues with bellhousing/pressure plate

Post  shwinny on Mon Dec 05, 2011 6:46 am

I just installed my clutch/pressure plate/bell housing and throw out bearing and it seams the pressure plate it hitting the bellhousing. I have a one piece auto c5 bellhousing and i think a 10.5in clutch and pressure plate. Not sure why its hitting but i need to figure it out. I installed the motor and went to manual trun it over and the pressure plate is rubbing keeping it from fully turning over. I will drop the motor next weekend and see why its hitting. I was hoping maybe one of you guys could help. Maybe i have to go to a manual bellhousing not sure whats the cheepest fix.

From what I read 10 1/2" flywheel, pressure plate and clutch should fit in the auto bellhousing. What flywheel, pressure plate and clutch are you using? Maybe it's 11"?

you say clutches is it a twin disc.i know from experience that the 11 in wont fit. i dont know about the twin disc setup like your using but with a 10.5 single disc is a tight fit itself and i use a 2 piece bell housing

xshop or admin mite have an idea youl just have to pull it apart and do some measuring i put an 11in presure plate by mistake and cracked my bellhousing and had to weld it so be carful with 2 piece you have better access to see whats hitting i was thinking the 1 piece was a little smaller than 2 piece.mite try pm to xshop or admin they are both very knowledgable about it from part numbers you listed presure plate shows to be a 10.5 .thats ussaly whats gonna hit bellhousing if any thing going to hit

The first time I installed the clutch setup on the engine and tried to bolt the engine up to the bellhousing I had the same problem...the pressure plate was hitting the bellhousing. I pulled everything back apart, and checked the depth of my flywheel, which was a resurfaced unit I had bought. I compared it to the unit that came with the used RH kit I bought...turns out the resurfaced unit I bought was almost an inch thicker than the one that came with the RH kit. That was my problem.

Hope this helps!
