For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Shift linkage adjustment Empty Shift linkage adjustment

After all of the changes in motor and transmission position there seems to be a little binding in the linkage. Did anyone else need to adjust the linkage? I am going to do a fix for the slop side to side in the shifter and check the plastic cup at the bottom while I am at it.

Thanks, for the link. I may go with a short shift kit if it isn't coming from the shifter. I should have looked at the linkage bushing this weekend when I was changing my trans fluid.

Shift linkage adjustment Empty Shifter

Post  fliermike45 Mon Jan 16, 2012 7:36 pm

I fitted a short shifter kit and had to do the adjustment as listed in the thread. The short arm in the mechanism (on the gearbox) has a slot and to get my shift lever vertical I had the adjuster to the end of the slot.

What brand short shifter did you get? If I get one it will be from Xschop.

How much lateral play should there be in the bushing at the transmission linkage? It feels like a couple of millimeters if I grab the intermediate shaft and move it side to side.

Installed my SSK from Xschop today. It took the slop out and the throw is great. So, to answer my own question, there should be no lateral movement at the rear linkage bushing.
