HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

profit of selling 944 parts?

Post  bp944 on Sat Aug 06, 2011 8:03 pm

I have a 1987 944 with 160,000 miles and I'm planning on doing a conversion. I was wondering, what I can plan on making off the used parts? I've been seeing complete engines going for $400 so I assume that's all I can get for the 944 parts in total.

Parts

I let my engine and clutch with all accessories go for $250, If I was you I would consider any sale of parts money a bonus, I have done three engine swaps and what I got for parts was a pitance compared with what I spent on the swaps.

I have a complete 88' 951 motor with 118k on it. I am trying to sell it on eBay right now. I would love to get $1,400.00 for it but, I guess we will see.

I got $900 for my 924S engine when I sold it a few years ago. That sale included the ECU and wiring harness.

Where is the best place to post these parts/engines for sale?

I made an absolute killing (over $7000!) selling off my old 951 parts, but I also had a lot of basically new, very desirable parts. If your stuff is worn and clapped out, you'll make a lot less.

The bottom end is basically worthless unless you sell it to a motor rebuilder. The head, as long as the ceramic liner is undamaged is worth upwards of $400. If you have the dual port intake manifold that's worth some cash too.

So is it better to part the motor out? Or sell it complete? If I sell complete should I included the harness and DME/KLR? I have a NIB SpeedForce Stage 1 turbo, NIB Tial 38mm wastegate, NIB Halteck Haltuner, hard pipe kit in good condition..etc...

Definitely seperate all the stuff. I sold the harness to one guy, the DME/KLR to another, tial wastegate to another, etc, etc. Unless one guy wants to buy all the stuff and offers a good amount for it, you're better off sending it here and there.

Ok. I was on the fence of breaking things down. Guess I'll try to sell the motor as is and sell everything else separate. Oh and by the way. You video on YouTube where you are cruising around was actually one of the main vids that pushed me to do this swap.

Rennlist is a little different than most of the other forums, as it was run for many years by a single person and not a corporation. Because of that, many of us paid to be members in order for the site to be able to continue to grow and stay viable. I've been a member for the past 7 years...
