For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

SUMMIT RADIATOR MODS
HEY GUYS, I just ordered my new radiator from summit. I know I need to remove the cap and have it welded flat on the top. Does anybody know what size nipples I need for the expansion tank to the radiator and also the vent (steam pipe) on the radiator. Can I get these at summit. I will have a turbo radiator for sale soon. My car just runs a little hot with the a/c on here in Texas when its over 95. Thanks David

IIRC the steam vent is 3/8" and the reservoir is around 3/4 - 1". I used that same rad.

Re: SUMMIT RADIATOR MODS
I used some "t's" from jagsthatrun.com. This allowed me to splice together a couple different radiator hoses to get the perfect bends I needed.

They seem to be working; My coolant is bled and I don't have any problems...

Re: SUMMIT RADIATOR MODS
I'm going to replace my rad soon as well and also will have my AC running soon, and I was hoping to use a turbo rad, but in your experience the T rad isn't enough. How much HP are you running? What coolant temps were you seeing with the AC on?ROGUE S2 wrote:HEY GUYS, I just ordered my new radiator from summit. I know I need to remove the cap and have it welded flat on the top. Re: SUMMIT RADIATOR MODS
Turbo rad is fine for street driving. I've seen 210F coolant temps with the AC on with my turbo rad. I'm making 373rwhp.
On the track is where it has an issue keeping up. It does ok, but I'd like to see lower temps and will install a Ron Davis radiator at some point.

Re: SUMMIT RADIATOR MODS
doc, I would like to go with the stock T rad. How hot is it where you live? I'm in LA, summer temps in excess of 100F are common.

Re: SUMMIT RADIATOR MODS
It's triple digits here in the summer, which is compounded by the thin air due to altitude.
You'll be fine with the turbo radiator, just make sure the fans are working for when you get stuck in LA traffic.

Re: SUMMIT RADIATOR MODS
HEY GUYS, Now that its over 100 degrees every day here in Texas my car runs 210 on the hwy with the turbo radiator (a/c not on). Maybe I don't have enough air flow. The front of my car is stock, with the lower cover installed under the radiator. I run my a/c till it gets to 230, but it never cools down to less than 210. I should have my modified summit radiator installed in a couple of weeks it should do the trick. I have not dyno'ed my motor ( Stock LS1) but I am guessing at 320 hp.

Re: SUMMIT RADIATOR MODS
On the summit radiator where do you install the expansion tank inlet on the radiator? Is there a specific location or just a general area?
