HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LSx Tach Hook up

Post  Admin on Sat Jul 18, 2009 8:32 pm

Do I remember correctly that the LS1 produces the proper signal to make the stock gauge work?

944S tach input

Post  87-944S on Sun Jul 19, 2009 10:18 am

Does anyone know which pin on the DME harness is the tach input for a 944S? The 944S uses a different DME connection than the Turbo. There is an 8 pin and a 14 pin connector. Thanks.

Tach input is #2 in the 14 pin connector [red/blue].

Greg, you are amazing thank you! Do you happen to know which is A/C request? That is my last wire before I am fully integrated.

Ok, so I'm looking at the crazy Porsche schematics, pin 2 of the 14 pin connector (red/blue) goes to 87 on the DME relay, pin 4 green/black goes to the fuel pump, so what am I missing? This is the weird ass 944S, should I just tap into the green with thin black line off the instrument cluster for the tach, and poke around the back of the climate control unit for an A/C request 12v source? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

OK, that sounds like the 14 pin @ the brake booster...

..pin 4 green/black goes to the fuel pump
Ditto...

This is the weird ass 944S...
I agree, I was looking at the manual / wiring diagram earlier.

If I can't find anything tonight, I'll call Frank @ Protech Motorsports tomorrow. He knows 944s
inside and out. Period.

A/C Request should be pin 13 [ red / green ]
*right color, wrong pin #... What a Face

Tach...wired @ rear of tach as follows:

Left lug = 12V+ [positive]
Center lug = Signal [input]
Right lug = - [negative]

[ I should be... ] Sleep

Thanks Greg, this 14 pin connector in the passenger side footwell does seem to mimick the 14 pin connector under the hood on the driver's side. I'll tap onto the back of the tach since I have the instrument cluster out for a new housing upgrade. Last wire is the A/C request, which should be easy to find with an ohm meter. If I get my hydroboost sorted I may be able to roll out of the garage soon. Then I can finish the exhaust, my garage is so small I have to turn the car around to finish the fuel pump install and exhaust!

Well I've figured out that the upper one that is plugged in, goes to the pass door. Speaker, probably window and such.

The lower one doesn't have any wires that match the color/number combination discussed here.

Thoughts?

EDIT:

Found this that seems to say my 87 might be green/black, which I have, but "location" of ign coil obviously is long gone....
