HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LT1 Alternator Only Low Mount
Just before I threw this out, I decided to scan it for others who have the LT engines. The scribbling is parts numbers and PN interchanges. Maybe this helps someone?

Low Mount Alternator
This bracket mounts the alternator low on the passenger side of the engine. Works well where only an alternator will be used. Allows clearance for spark plug wires. Will work on all LT-1 engines by using a 2 1/8" thick Corvette balancer and a G.M. CS130 alternator with the 6 & 10 o'clock mounting points shown in the important info. page of this web site.

Re: LT1 Alternator Only Low Mount
IIRC that belt doesn't actually exist...you can get a 5 rib in that length, but not a 6 rib, and i think you can get a slightly longer belt that does work...i have the part numbers somewhere...just gotta dig them up!
edit: i use this very alt bracket on my car...before you install it i recommend painting the spacers and even the bar because they will start to get some surface rust.
edit #2: reread the specs LT1 posted...they must have changed the recommendation for the belt from a 6 rib to a 5 rib...because on my instructions they have the same number except for the digit that indicates number of ribs on the belt (mine says 6). I'm running the 5 rib right now on my car, but once i find the 6 rib number that works i'll post it up.

Re: LT1 Alternator Only Low Mount
That depends on your power usage, Is your car all power? Are you going to install a massive stereo? Electric after market fan? Electric water pump? Extra driving lights? and anything else that you may add to your car that draws electricity needs to be calculated by the max amp draw and I would add at least 10%min just in case.

Is that a 4 in wide belt? seems a little over kill.
Anyone know what the stock output for the alternator is?

I've bought the belt and I can assure you it is not 4" wide... The dimensions you just posted may be for the shipping box size? LOL
The belt is 31 1/2" long and maybe 3/4" wide

Re: LT1 Alternator Only Low Mount
Why are so many having such a problem with this!?! Why did I get a negative rating? Why would someone think its a 4 inch belt!!!!
The balancer is GM part number 10128489. Its about $60.

Heres the picture again... It was in my gallery the whole time but maybe it was to hard to read.

Re: LT1 Alternator Only Low Mount
I was just messin with you guys.
Yeah, theres some scriblling on it. I usually write things down on stuff alot for some reason. My LT1 was a 1996. There was a reason for the hub and I think it was that the buick/caprice/impala LT1s had a different hub. So thats the reason theres a reference to hubs on there. If yours is a camaro hub...youre okay.
Theres also dorman and hollander interchange numbers on the sheet to help find the cheapest price.
Heres a post from the old board on this....
Heres what you'll need:
2-1/8" balancer from a 1992-1996 vette:This harmonic balancer has the following specifications:
Type - Serpentine Belt
OE part number - GM 10128489 or 630344EX
Diameter - 7-3/32"(inches)
Width - 2-1/8" (inches)
Platinum #: 2622024
Dorman #: 594-107
Hollander #: 309-498
OE #: 10128489
Crankshaft Hub from a 1996-1997 LT1:GM PN# 12550097
Depending on the year LT1 you have, you may already have this.
Dayco Belt that is 31.5":Dayco PN# 5050315
Belt is used for a 2 5/8" diameter GM multi-groove pulley.
Alternator:You HAVE to have a small CS130 GM alternator withthe threaded mounting ear in the 10 o' clock position and so the other ear is at 6 o' clock.
I bought the balancer from Amazon.com online for 76 bucks, the alternator I already had in my shop, and the hub was already stock on my 96 LT1. The Dayco belt I bought from Amazon as well for 10 bucks.
Right now, if you go to Amazon, type in the search box exactly this... "Dayco 5050315" and the belt will show up. Then type in...."balancer 10128489" and the balancer will show up. You can also type in "CS130 alternator" and it will shoew up as well. So, you can get all three of those from one place.
Thats all you need. But you must be ready to rid the car of AC and PS. Just alternator. Which means you need a manual steering rack and steering shaft as well as manual tie rods.
