For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Speedo questions on a 83
So I was browsing the forums and came across this.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Apparently the early 944's pull the speedometer information off the left front wheel vs the transmission.
So my question is have an 83 N/A. Does this mean I do not need to use a VSS kit and sensor or does the engine computer still need some type of signal to tell it the car is moving for proper operation, Idle etc.

The VSS kit has nothing to do with how the stock Porsche picks up its speed signal.
Like you said "the GM engine computer will still need some type of signal to tell the car it's moving for proper operation, Idle". That's all it does; it's just for the GM computer.

Dakota Digital has a converter that you can use along with the hall sensor output on you speedo. The speedo hall sensor doesn't give you a quick enough pulse for the GM VSS. The Dakota Digital converter can multiply the hall signal to work with the VSS.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm going to check out both options. Now my big dilemma is figuring out if I can use a corvette DBW TB with my truck harness but thats in the works I should know shortly.
