HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

944 Track car
Not much left of the original car except the body, and some of it will go eventually.
Started life as an 85 na, now sporting turbo suspension with escort cup Bilsteins, turbo LSD tranny, LT1 with lots of go fast goodies, dry sump, full cage, etc.
After a year + hiatus, she's getting back on board.

Headers are fabricated, y pipe fitting is next, then off to tig them up.

Oil pan is coming out again to relocated the dry sump fittings. I was also able to rotate the starter on the mount to gain more clearance....

Headers are almost done. Just came back from being TIG welded. Next to trim to length and install collectors, then off to be JET coated...

Re: 944 Track car
I was reading through your post and you said that you are going to make a "Y" pipe next, now that the headers are done. Why are you gong with a single exhaust after all the hard work of making the long tube headers? Why not go with duals?
Headers look good. I hope mine come out that nice, Are those your first set that you made?

Re: 944 Track car
headers look great! What material did you use and how did you bend them?

Re: 944 Track car
Thanks for the compliments. This is my first set fabricated, but I had a very experienced buddy helping out who also did all the TIG work. Y pipe is 3" and will be all the way to the back of the car. The 3" rear half is already there and should be adequate. I may change to duals in the future if it makes a performance improvement.
Tubing is steel welded seam (we didn't need DOM for exhaust, save that for our cages), some tubes bent on our tube bender, some are off the shelf.
We've got another set in the works for a 383 track car and then another LS project.

headers,
Very nice job on those units. What are the pros and cons, long tube/short tube. are you running a traditional collector flange or the v bands.

Click on the "download this" section. It will bring up the main page for firefox (http://www.mozilla.com). There is a link there but the forum kinda hides it.

Re: 944 Track car
If I change to color to blue (put color=blue into [brackets]) then I get the following result.

Best of my recollection longer tubes get you torque at a lower peak rpm. We're running traditional collectors, 4-1.
