New Project LS1 in Nile Green 1987 944 Turbo

Post  johntorg on Sat Feb 26, 2011 9:28 pm

I have started a second 944 V8 project. The car is a Nile Green 87 944 Turbo, which I have owned for a couple of years. I bought it for the rare color, with a blown engine. I have accumulated some of the conversion parts, including:

2000 Camaro SS LS1
Quicktime Bellhousing
Z06 11 inch Clutch, and Flywheel
C5 Slave Cylinder
Chrysler 11 inch Clutch Disc
TPC LS1 Mounts
TPC Oil Pan

I'm not sure what I'll do for headers yet. The LS1 comes with a nice set of Long Tube Headers which I will look to modify, If that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to have a set fabricated.

That is a very nice color, motor already removed and no sunroof, you have a good find. I would have liked to be able to find something other than red.

Thanks, guys. I'm just waiting for the oil pan from TPC to get started. The LS1 engine is from a drag car and has nitrous. Do I dare?

Your pan shows to be delivered on the 22nd. Did you get it?

I received 1 box, which I haven't opened it didn't look big enough for the pan, so I assumed it was the mounts. Was the Pan shipped separately? I'll open the box tomorrow and check.

Should have everything in one box. The box should be 24"x18"x9" or something close to it. Mounts and oil pan should both be in there.
Thanks

Thanks, I'm sure its there, just stupidity on my part. Do you still sell the crossmember for in front of the radiator?

Pulled LS1 Engine

Post  johntorg on Fri Mar 18, 2011 6:01 am

Removed the engine from the 2000 Camaro SS yesterday. No surprises so far, just some badly leaking valve cover gaskets a missing idle air control valve and a bad hose in the PCV circuit. So Far, so good.
