For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

That's very similar to the the 2005 5.3l truck pan that I have, and yes, it still needs to be modified.

Anyone have the lengthy thread back on PH regarding this topic? Seems we beat this one to death, and the general consensus was that, other than the REALLY shallow dry sump pans, all pans had to be modified to a certain degree to clear the crossmember/steering rack/steering rack mounts.

That Canton Racing would work , but it would still need modification. If you read just below the picture it says that " Different sump configurations available as special order." Why can they mod the pan the way we need it. That is what QT did for our bell housing needs. Maybe they are concerned with what their customers need. Cool

Craig modified a Milodon 697-30915, based on the RH pan.

Or what about the GTO pan?

whoa whoa slow down. Only the drivers side cut is nescessary, my brother and i used the moroso pan and notched both sides using the photos to best guess the locations of the notches.... The oil pickup didnt fit. So we denotched the one side. Pan fits perfectly now.

oil pan options Empty 20140

Post  xschop Sun Jul 19, 2009 10:17 am

What is everyone doing for the "idiot light" oil level sensor when the aftermarket pans don't have them?
The Moroso 20140 is the best one for the money IMO and it really only needs the driver's side modded just like the Canton one above. I'm having another one done on a CNC cutter, then TIG welded to check workmanship quality of the potential welder to go-to.

oil pan options Empty Moroso 20140

Post  xschop Mon Jul 20, 2009 8:27 pm

I redid my Moroso 20140 Oil pan because I didn't trust the welds I did with my Mig wire feed. So I cut out the bad spot with the CNC mill first. Then I made an opposite CNC cut piece of the exact guage as the Moroso pan to fit exactly. Sent it over to a buddy with a Gas shielded TIG.....Very pleased with the result...
If you are interested in this mod shoot me a PM. I could order the pan or you could send me yours....

Did any one used 07 truck oil pan? Can some one post pictures if you have? What modification was made to the pan for it to work?

So, the RH pan IS the Moroso 20140. This is what the S10 fellers are using as well.

is there a company that sells those blanks? they all look like the same stamped part cut up with a bucket welded to them, the moroso and milodan have the same flat part.

On the truck pan, there is a 2-bolt housing with a "snout" pointing upwards that comes right off the oil filter area.....
What the hell is that for?

External oil cooler or supercharger/turbocharger feed. I have an oil cooler distribution block from Lingenfelter that will be going there.

I was worried about it interfering with the modded header. But since my Truck alloy pan cracked at the Back, I decided to go Moroso for the simple mod. I bet you had to chop the shizzle out of that pan. If someone doesn't mind a 2" hood scoop, the truck pan needs nothing.

So, the side of the truck pan has 2 holes but the block has only 1 exit snout, is this for the oil pressure gauge then?

Will the 08 hummer pan work? Or has this already been counted out. $200+ for just a pan is no good. Mad

Post  xschop Mon Jul 27, 2009 6:01 am

Hey LT, that will need the bottom part of the sump chopped and welded so as to not be 2.5 inches below the X-member when installed. The side has to be trimmed and rewelded too for the steering bosses, whereas the 02-06 Truck pan already has the indentions on both sides.
Has anyone located Steel blanks?

It's been so long since I took out the four banger from this car. How much did the stock oil pan extend below the crossmember, if at all? I'm using the truck pan, but did not cut the bottom off. If I have to make yet another modification of this pan, I think I'm just going to go with the Moroso.

I looked at my 84 parts car, the fins on the pan hang just below the cross member about an inch. no other part is below the cross member.
