HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Clutch slave remote speed bleeder

Post  Porch on Tue Feb 15, 2011 5:38 pm

I've seen a few people that have remote speed bleeders on their clutch slave cylinders. Any info on this? I have the RH slave setup. Part numbers or a complete setup would be a bonus! Smile

You're sure this will work on the RH kit? I was never clear on which slave cylinder they were using.

I had to do a little grinding on my bell housing for clearance, but it fit the C5 slave cylinder fine.

Awesome! Ordered it.
Anthropraxis, were you able to install it with the bellhousing/motor/etc. in the car, or am i going to have to do some disassembly to get this installed?

I put it in during the motor install. If you have a 2 piece bell housing you might be able to install it. An angled wrench would probably help.

Damn, i was hoping i could install it without anything else.

Oh well, i'll just plan on cracking the bellhousing open (2-piece), but start by cutting a corner off a deep socket to try that....

I cant see a reason to take off the lower bellhousing. Its all done from above.

Basically, what I see you having to do is:
1. unthread the stock bleeder
2. plug the bleeder hole as best you can
3. dremel a bit of relief in the adapter plate (the AN line fitting may be larger than stock)
4. secure the copper crush washer to the adapter fitting with a dab of grease
5. thread the adapter fitting into the bleeder port hole with a socket
6. thread the hose to the adapter fitting (tricky part)

That picture is of the tickperformance kit. It comes with an adapter fitting, copper crush washer and the AN hose/speed bleeder.

That picture is to show you whats in the kit (bleeder side of picture).

That Tick Clutch MC kit will not bolt into in the 944

Where are you guys sticking the remote bleeder line?
I had the neighbor kid press the clutch pedal while I worked the factory bleed cap with my left hand standing over the passenger's side fender. It was easy.

From now on all of my C5 BH adapter plates will have the clutch line reliefs....

Oh, good to know! Looks like i'll be getting in there with a dremel. That's not as bad as dropping the exhaust and pulling the lower cover off the BH...

I've tried just about every bleeding method known to man but i just can't get the clutch to release fully. Hopefully this will at least make the air accumulate in the bleeder (being the high point).

Which Clutch MC are you using? The factory one is a crap shoot at best with the LS clutch especially at high RPM. 13/16" is the way to go.

I have the Wilwood 7/8". Really no reason it shouldn't be disengaging.

Nah, it's the RH setup (clutchmasters). They said they've never had a problem that required shims. I have the HD pressure plate and the kevlar disc.

Have you removed the lower BH cover and looked at the TO bearing to PP spline contact?

I read a post on LS1 tech recommending taking the measurements on all installs. One of the reasons they demonstrated was that the different manufacturers of the C5 slave don't make them all to the same height. They had several and were all different heights.

I've been trying to avoid pulling the exhaust and all that to give a look, but that's going to be the next step if this speed bleeder doesn't help. Thanks for all the help, guys! This has been a really long-term problem with the car and it's been making me drive it less and less...

Re: Clutch slave remote speed bleeder

Post  Porch on Mon Feb 21, 2011 7:56 pm

Got the part on friday and got it installed yesterday. Made a little difference...and it was enough! It's much better now. It's not as good as i wanted it, but i think it's as good as it's going to get. No more trouble getting it into gear.

I think another part of it is that i just need to get used to the fact that these aren't quick-shifting transmissions, and that rev-matching may be necessary for down-shifting. However it's much, much better.

Did not require any grinding with my RH parts. I did have to take a 7/16 deep socket and cut a side off of it to tighten the hose onto the fitting. It was a slight PITA, but bleeding is now so easy that the memory will quickly fade! Smile

Haha, not too bad.

In fact, i even did it twice. The first time it went on there quickly and i had no issues. Then i turned around and saw the brass washer sitting on my work bench. lol!
