Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I figured I should out a lower brace. I will install a zinc coated steel riv nut into the frame rail once they arrive.

On my master i assume the ports closet to booster are front and the port at the end is the regulated rears single line to back. MY 924 master is different.

Re: New convert under way
Well i am hoping for a stock solution. My factory metal tank can not be trusted as it cant be cleaned properly.I am waiting on a cost to reproduce my stock tank in alluminum at a local shop. If to costly i will need to source out factory poly tank and do a mount system. I am trying to keep spare tire well.

Re: New convert under way
The poly tanks are way better than the factory metal tanks. I know they can be bought in the states for around $300. There's one on eBay now. I don't know what it takes to get one to you.
As far as an aluminum tank, I would stay away from that unless you can put a bladder in it. The welds are prone to cracking and can leak through porous welds. I had one that came in a Ferrari Bueller kit car that I had welded multiple times. They can be coated internally with gas tank sealer, but even that can cause problems if and when it starts coming loose and plugging fuel lines and stuff.

Well sound advise. I see one on line for 200 US. Getting here is no problem. Sounds like I am going poly or I loose the tire well and do a proper bladdered cell.

Re: New convert under way
Well after thinking. I have ordered a new tank from Auto Atlanta. This is a completely rebuilt like new. I guess in the long run it's worth it to me. Everything is new. Funny building a street legal race car and I am doing a nut and bolt resto. Maybe getting a little carried away but oh well.

Re: New convert under way
Well yes but a practical 997. will hold 2 sets of golf clubs and 2 suit cases. and hopefully put a beatin on my Docs 997 TT , lol. I decided to go with the steel tank because its plug and play. I have my straps and rubbers etc so. Its my own fault my original got to bad to use, so pay the piper. It fits real clean with my trans.

Do the 997 quarters cover the tires?

Re: New convert under way
Yes they will cover the tires. It looks cartoonish when your close. Question, my manual for my motor says my maf must be 10 in away from throttle body? If closer what's the issue?

Re: New convert under way
If too close, turbulence from the intake pulses can cause the maf signal to fluctuate. But, in all honesty, I have had the maf right on the throttle body due to clearance restrictions and never really seems to be an issue. My tuner always tells me it not a big deal. He can tune for any fluctuations somehow.
If I have room though, I try to get the maf at least 6" away from the t-body. Ideally, you want the maf in the middle of a straight section. So no tight bend directly before or after the maf. That seems to cause more issues than anything.

Re: New convert under way
Well body guy came by yesterday. Spent 3 hours assessing what I want. We decided I need to set the car on the ground then we will finalize the design. Should be heading out end of January to get it done. When it comes back it will be painted and ready to reassemble. After many years this car will finally get to stretch its legs. In the interm continue to assemble and bring to life.
