HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Ls1 Computer mounting.
Would welcome any suggestions on mounting the computer. Has anybody used the glove box as a mounting option?

My computer is located where the original DME/KLR lived under the floor board.

That is where I put mine and the fuse box I made. I cut the flat black metal that connects the the two braces the floorboard wood bolts into. The floor insulation is still in place and the wood holds the computer still. I am going to make a strap to secure it to the wooden piece of the floorboard after I wrap the harness.

Re: computer mounting
Am I reading this right bo understand that you guys are replacing the stock computer completely with the new computer? I plan on swaping in a Nissan RB26DEET engine, and have been trying to find anything about integrating the old and new computer together as far as controls for the entire car. Any help would be appreciated as I try to understand this portion of the swap

Swap
When you swap a LS1 computer controlled engine into a 944 the original Porsche computer is deleted along with the harness and old engine. The old Porsche computer is not used with the new engine.
You can tap into the car's wiring for fuel pump, water temp, oil pressure, rev counter and AC.
Speedometer is driven from the transaxle.

Remove 4 cylinder
Look for another thread on this forum that tells you what to save from the 4 cylinder engine.

Hi Mike,
I mounted mine under the passenger foot rest. There was plenty room and it's easy to access.

Re: Ls1 Computer mounting.
I bought the car as a roller and the P'car computer was removed as was the mount. I built a plate from Lexan and plan to attached the PCM to it by bending a piece of 1/8" x 2" aluminum into a U bracket with the PCM toward the firewall. My question is whether the thing gets hot and if I should insulate it from the Lexan. Mind you Lexan has to be really hot before it deforms but it would suck if the floorboard deformed.
EDIT>>The PCM is designed to operate in a boiling hot environment under the hood so anywhere in the cabin will be OK. I couldn't find any info where the thing itself generates heat but to save any possible grief i'm going to isolate it.
