HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Weight increase from LT1? Empty Weight increase from LT1?

Post  NoTheOtherSparky Wed Aug 03, 2011 8:39 pm

I'm planning an LT1 swap and maybe I'm not using search correctly but I can't seem to get any hits that will tell me how much weight I should expect to pick up due to the motor swap.

Looking to get to better than a 10 lb/hp number at the wheels, which I think should be pretty easy to do. Car will be more or less gutted as it'll be a track car. Probably won't be street legal.

Thanks for any tips, or if you have a suggestion of a better motor to use. Donor is an 87 944S.

These values differ all the time depending on options and accessories.... especially the 944 engine....due to the fluctuations in weight due to oil leaks Laughing Laughing
LT1 dressed = 460 lbs
LS6 dressed = 382 (w/o clutch) 420 (w/clutch)
944 dressed = 366 (dry w/o clutch) 410 (as running)

source: (LT/LS) GMperformance specifications, (944) I've weighed it personally

LT, your 944 dry weight is exactly the same as the official Porsche Spec book says! Your LT1 weight looks about correct as well. The Gen I (iron head) is 550# and the aluminum heads and intake are about 90# lighter.
