HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I am going to make some bolt in hood pins that bolt right in the same place as the pivot points for the headlights. I should have the new headlight conversion buckets ready by the end of the week and then I will start on the hood pins. I am trying to make them all bolt it and sturdy. I have seen some really weak looking pin setups and if I am going to remove the factory latch I want something that is tight....

COOL.

So you are cutting out the top plate where the stock hood latch is? This should give another 2 inches for bigger radiator!

Ya, I was kinda thinking the same thing myself (and I believe it's "time conservationist"). I'll probably just use the locking surface mount ones.

Umm, no. But we can make a set...give me time to find a lock to build around, and the housing should be cake...even on a manual mill.

we can talk about anything you want to attempt on her. She is sitting in your garage now, so any ideas I will listen too. I do like the idea of a locking hood pin, to many 5 finger idiots out there.

I make and sell that cross member. I have sold quite a few in fact. as far as crash protection, I think that it has more strength than the flimsy sheet metal that you have to remove to install it. It is made from heavy gauge steel and fully welded, unlike the factory sheet metal. The cross tube is schedule 40 pipe. much thicker than the 20 gauge sheet metal.

Let me second Eric on the cross member. When you set the sheet metal side by side with the Pipe unit, the strength and integrity are obvious. The cross member supports lateral pull, but the new design also allows fro greater air flow, allows more room upfront for a larger radiator, something the V8 relishes.

As far as my hood pins, we need to post a few picks of the finished product and how it helps out the radiator relocation strategy.

I have both the new cross member and the hood pins along with a relocated radiator, which allowed me to use the summit radiator. (not yet Texas summer tested, but we have high hopes)

Hey, nice work!
I like the brackets you made for the pins too. Did you just bolt them to the frame?
Any pictures of your intake setup?
