HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LSx hood clearances

Post  m73m95 on Tue Jul 07, 2009 8:37 pm

Has anyone had any trouble fitting the larger 90mm or 92mm throttle body on an LS engine under the stock hood without modifying anything (Engine mounts, cross member)? The cable driven TB looks quite a bit smaller than the electronic one in the GTOs, but does it matter which setup we use?

Or is that a dumb question, and I can find the answer if I do a little research? lol

I am putting a larger TB on mine and would not think there would be an issue.

You can trim away the underside of the hood to get some extra clearance or

Get some strut spacers and lift the car up the same as the cross member spacer, per xschops design and get some space back that way.

Still not sure you would need the space.

I would think the over all exterior body size would be the same, Just the inside would have the larger bore.

There are manufacturing "differences" in the crossmembers between different cars, and uni-body cars ALWAYS twist and flex to different extents. Some cars are more severe than others. For example, I have seen torqued-up Mustangs break factory welds @ the side quarter windows...

I had to clearance the underside of my hood to run a FAST 92. Now I'm running a Holley and it's much lower profile and would probably fit with no issues, under a stock hood. I believe the FAST was higher profile than the stock electronic 90mm.

Sweet, thanks DVC. That's just what I was looking for.

I planned on the Holley 94mm TB, but I might stick with the 92.

I just manage to get my car running. The ls1 I have is running a 90mm TB. The top corner closest to the front of the car seemed to hit the hood during test fits,( I could see the paint scratches on the interior of the hood) So I just cut a little square area out of the middle support frame. Not too much just enough to clearance the TB and hood.
