HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

1984 944 trans
Need some help. I have an 84' 944 and changing the auto tranny for a 5-spd. It has been suggested to go for the Turbo 5-spd then swap the 5th gear from a n/a tranny. This seems to be well understood. Since I have never had a Porsche I ask a lot of questions from many and yes I get a lot of different feedback.
Some say it is toooo difficult to mount the Turbo trans to the 84' year as the 84' tranny mounted in two locations where as the Turbo only mounts in one and the Turbo mounts in a different location. How true is this and is it really all this difficult?
For as many as there are suggesting the Turbo tranny I can't see where it should be all that difficult to mount. I have the aluminum trans mount # 066.375.287.04 or at least I think this is the number a little hard to read. Not sure wher it goes but I have it.

Re: 1984 944 trans
I know dawgz did this in his car. I'll probably have to end up doing the same whenever I get my hands on a good turbo trans. So its defiantly doable. I just don't know whats entailed.

IIRC, The later trans has one of the 3 bosses untapped from factory for the left and right intermediate brackets. There is a pic of them in my Billet-urethane thread that shows they go between the two mounts and the early trans. You would need to use a set of those and tap the Turbo tranny cover for them to mount.
