928 TT dimensions

Post  xschop on Thu Sep 24, 2009 10:35 am

I'm not sure what to think about the 928 TT's
I recently went to the Porsche graveyard and measured what I thought to be a 928 Manual TT. However there were shorter TT's and some that had extention tips that connected via a shaft adapter similat to the 944 TT to transaxle sleeves...
anyways here's what I found on a couple of the TT's (I think these were 5 speed TT's) I may stand corrected....

Flange?
Bolt pattern?

The 928 uses a coupler @ the flywheel - can be eliminated when installing GM V8.
I came up with a 944 to 928 TT dimensional difference of 3.76".

Hmmm, sounds about right...(using the SMS method) Razz

After seeing all the 944 Flange dims off everywhere I didn't bother.....Figured I would use the SMS system when I make an adapter Razz
It was dark inside the building and mosquitos galore, had to bail quickly affraid

I did see that there was a short and long tube as well, maybe one was for Auto and the other for Manual, but not 100% sure either.

Hello,

This is my first time posting... I think there are at least two different lengths of torque tubes in the 928 manual cars. Perhaps the slip collar offers some minor tolerance for BH adapter length?

If we could just get the TT face dimensions... Not sure what SMS is. Must be something similar to my portable Lufkin dimensioning system ($6 at the HomeDepot) drunken

Here is a picture I found in a TT rebuild post that adds some pieces to the puzzle

Yep...
Saw those. Flange bolt pattern is what we still need.
